Funds will be used to cover the teaching expenses for the expansion of the cartoon classes held at Laurel Elementary School.

Chrysalis Stage Fall Production

Funds will be used to help cover professional actor's contracts for a seven week production. Funds will help attract and hire professional actors to increase the value and quality of performances given to the community.

Daniel Phelan School

Funds will pay for materials and a teacher to provide grade level appropriate art lessons to K-5 students at the school. This program will be used as a basis for a systematic approach to teaching techniques and artistic styles to students.

Floricanto Dance Theatre "Navidad in Whittier"

Funds will be used to aid in the presentation of Navidad en Whittier, a program at the Shannon Center scheduled for December 12, 2010, that celebrates holiday traditions of Mexico and increases awareness for the arts within the Whittier Latino community.

Mill School Technology Academy "Violin Program"

Funds will be used to pay Elizabeth Lauritsen for violin lessons for kindergarten students. There are three kindergarten classes that will receive 20 1-hour violin lessons.

Rio Hondo Symphony Association Music Enrichment Program 3rd Grade

Funds will be used to provide “in the classroom” introduction to symphonic orchestra instruments. Rio Hondo Symphony instructors go into 3rd grade classes to present a 45-minute lesson to a maximum of 60 students in Whittier and East Whittier City Schools.

Whittier Art Association - Frog's Ear Art

Funds will be used to provide scholarships to students taking fine art painting and drawing classes at the Art Gallery.

Whittier City's Edwards Middle School: World Art: "Multicultural Masterpiece"

Funds will be used to purchase art supplies so over 100 students can study the work of world-renown cultural artists and then create multicultural art pieces themselves. These are experiences that would not normally be available to them in their daily lives.

Whittier Community Foundation "Police Memorial"

Funds will be used to aid in the cost of creating an original art piece to be installed in front of the new Whittier Police Station to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty and those who continue to serve the Whittier community on a daily basis.

Whittier Union High School District "Art Alive"

Funds will be used for the “Arts Alive” program in which four schools (California, La Serna, Whittier and Sierra Vista High Schools) attend a field trips each and one school (Sierra Vista High School) each to art museums and musical/theatre productions. Funds cover the cost of substitute teachers and transportation.
